We decided to go to The Pitcher and Piano. It is behind Waterstones next to the river, which is a beautiful setting for the bar. As you walk in you can see the bar and the outside seating and you can choose where you want to go. It has a very spring/summer feel because it is light and gives a rustic feel. The music is modern with a bit of pop in it too, making for an easy feel atmosphere and is also quiet enough to talk to people. It is also only one floor and has a range of seating for both groups and couples. The bar is large and is very aesthetically pleasing with lovely ambient lighting.
We first bought a pornstar martini. They put their own twist on it and said they would make it with an extra pinch of fruit. This was really nice and both of us liked the fruity taste as it was a different take on the classic we both know and love. This one was my personal favourite and
was £8.50, quite reasonably priced we thought! The next one was the mocktail which was an elderflower virgin mojito. This was completely different: in a tall glass with some fresh mint in the bottom. This wasn’t overpowering but did add an extra bit of colour. It felt really summery and is apparently the most popular there. This was Ada’s favourite and costs £3.95. Last we asked for was the bartender’s drink and he ordered us a Wednesday Sugar Spirit. This was quite strong and personally was a little too strong for me, however Ada did like it and thought it was fine; it was £8.50 too. All the drinks were very colourful and in total we paid £20.95.
We weren’t sure about the deals, but you can check them out on their Instagram @pitcherandpianoyork!!
